january 2023 herbal meditation: indigo socks with dièdiè

indigo-dyed socks

for feeling your feet connected to the sky

made with: indigo grown at dièdiè textile farm

gift inspired by: backyard indigo dye station. aquarius season. a fashion show full of natural dye athleisure fits. pronouncing it “adidás.” earth work on cold, sunny days with my friend.

how to take care of your socks: can be washed in the machine with like colors. hand wash if you want to be extra safe and gentle. natural dye does fade with time, but that’s the beauty of real life <3

astro timing: venus in pisces (healing waters)

January’s gift is a special sumistreet x dièdiè textile farm production. Which is to say I made it with my magnificent critter friend, adé oni. I like to imagine our work in the world as two long lost siblings who one day ran into each other at a grocery store and had a long, knowing embrace. It’s that thing where your strange and another’s strange just make sense together. It’s like who was I before I had a friend like you in my life? It’s an abundance you can’t look back from. True friendship.

Speaking of little miracles, I want to dedicate this month’s herbal meditation to Tyre Nichols. To remember him skateboarding in the sunset and singing Footloose is a balm. He was a part of this constellation of Strange Special Beautiful energy, where I think many of us find each other, our kin. He was brutally taken from his loved ones and it’s not okay. If you happen to pass the local skatepark while the sun sets and you’re wearing your indigo socks, send a blessing up to Tyre.

Here’s some scenes from our backyard indigo dye day. Check out my cosmic sibling’s work — they really put their whole lifeforce foot into everything they do <3

Take care of each other. If you feel a heaviness in your heart, I’m right there feeling it with you. I like to think that feeling it all is what we came here to do.

love,

sumi
